ELMWOOD LACROSSE LEGEND PASSES

Roy Watkins was a Kelvin kid growing up at the community center playing lacrosse and hockey. In the 1960'2 Roy played minor lacrosse at Kelvin before playing junior and senior for Kelvin. He was still midget age when he started playing junior and junior age when he made his first appearance in the senior league. In 1964 Roy moved over to the South Winnipeg Olympics. In the "70's the Olympics became the St. Boniface Clubs. Roy launched the Clubs as playing/ coach. The Clubs captured the senior titles in 197 and 1875.
Roy was an all round lacrosse player, but he was most know for his ability to score goals- overhand, side arm, and under hand. This variety of shots made him a constant threat from the left side of the power play. Through the late '60's and '70's, Roy was a top team scorer-scoring at least one goal per game.
Roy was an all round athlete playing hockey for the St. Boniface Junior Canadians. As well he was an enthusiastic golfer.
Roy will be missed by his long time Elmwood friends and the many people he befriended through work and sports.
